Having your fireplace and furnace chimney cleaned and/or inspected annually is the number one maintenance to help prevent chimney related house fires.
Stage 3 creosote is the most problematic to remove.
It is shiny, tar like and harder than brick and needs to be removed with chains and/or chemicals.
It usually takes several treatments and cleanings to fully remove the glazed build up.

Had him come to our house today for a basic chimney cleaning.
He was very professional, friendly, and took the time to answer all of our questions.
We never write reviews but felt the need to since this is the first chimney company we felt comfortable with.
We highly recommend his services.
Recently called George for a quote to inspect my chimney on a new house I just bought before I fired it up this winter.
A Chimney Inspection is a complete examination of both the interior and exterior of your chimney to discover or determine any damage, deterioration, buildup or other obstructions that can block ventilation.
It is recommended that homeowners should have a yearly chimney inspection.
Certain levels of inspection are required of a homeowner when there is a change to the system or an appliance is replaced.
Additionally, whenever a home transfers ownership, an inspection is required.
There are 3 levels of chimney inspections that have been established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA & NFPA 211) in regards to home heating appliances.
New Jersey Uniform Construction Code requires a chimney certification for replacement of a hot water heater, furnace or boiler.
The inspection shall include verification that the flue or flues being inspected are free of combustible deposits and blockage or obstruction.
If the flue liner in your chimney has softened, cracked, or otherwise deteriorated so that it no longer has the continued ability to contain the products of combustion (IE: heat, moisture, creosote, and flue gases), the liner shall be either removed and replaced, repaired or relined with a listed liner system or other approved material that will resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at appropriate levels to the class of chimney service.
Improperly sized and installed chimney caps can be very dangerous, therefore it is very important to use the right professional.
For the job done right, the first time, call George The Chimney Guy.
With my experience and knowledge I guarantee proper sizing and installation on all my chimney caps.
Keeps out rain and snow which helps prevent unwanted deterioration of the flue tiles, mortar joints between the flue tiles and rusting of dampers and metal fireboxes.
Keeps out animals, not only from your home but from building hazardous nests that make it impossible for dangerous flue gases such as carbon monoxide to exit the chimney and your home safely.
