METRO CHIMNEY is your premier Portland chimney cleaning and repair company. Our chimney sweep services include standard fireplace cleaning, free standing wood stoves cleaning (Sorry, we do not clean wood stove inserts unless they have a connected liner running up the chimney), and zero clearance fireplace cleaning (pre-fabricated fireplaces commonly found in apartments and condominiums and newer homes).
We also perform chimney repair services such as chimney rebuilds or tuck-pointing for degrading chimney mortar joints. Have a leaking chimney? We sell stainless steel chimney caps (rain and wind caps), as well as repair chimney flashing or install new chimney flashing. Damper broken? We install top closing dampers. We also fix degrading chimney crowns and flue tiles, as well as chimney moss removal and chimney waterproofing.

Services
Metro Chimney specializes in Standard Fireplace cleaning.
During the cleaning, we will take care of the interior of your house by laying down runner blankets from the fireplace to the nearest doorway of entry.
We clean all aspects of your fireplace, cleaning the flue, firebox, and most importantly, the smoke shelf, or engine for your chimney.
Fireplaces work on inversion, and that inversion process starts in the Smoke Shelf.
The Smoke Shelf resides behind the angled part of the back wall of your fireplace.

There are also Wood Stove Inserts, and Pellet Stoves (see below).
Use of a wood stove requires proper cleaning yearly of the chimney to remove creosote deposits, and regular inspection of the installation and handling of ashes.
Wood stove pipes are smaller than your standard chimney flue, and accumulate soot and creosote (Creosote is an inevitable by-product of burning wood, and is formed when wood smoke condenses on the inside of a cool chimney) buildup faster than a regular fireplace flue.
That is because most wood stove pipes have a diameter of no more than 8 inches.

Zero Clearance Fireplaces are factory built units made from sheet metal or cast iron.
They are also known as prefabricated fireplaces because they come ready to install complete with instructions on how to assemble the unit and explain the framework requirements.
These types of fireplaces are used by professional builders and are commonly found in many Apartments and Condominiums complexes, as well as newer home builds from the mid to late 1980's on.
Zero clearance fireplaces are so named because they are sufficiently insulated to be installed within close range of combustible materials, such as walls or wood framework, without requiring a masonry foundation.

Metro Chimney offers volume discounts on chimney cleaning for multi-unit dwellings.
If you are an Apartment Manager or Property Management Company, call us to come out and give you a bid for the chimney units in your complex.
We can even give you a demonstration cleaning of our services.
If you decide to hire us, we offer roof inspections to decide which units need cleanings and which ones do not unless you want all the units on the property cleaned.
We can set a block in our schedule to work on the units in a set block.

An adult must be present at time of service.
We need an area roughly 6'x6' space in front of the fireplace for our tools and to do the cleaning.
It is helpful if you could move any furniture (couches, tables, chairs, etc.) out-of-the-way before we come to do the sweep.
Also, if you could clear a path leading from the entrance door to the area of the fireplace/wood stove so that we can have an unobstructed route to bring in our gear.
It would also be helpful if you could remove any large pieces of wood or stacks of garbage from the fireplace as well.
